Девичья весна, or spring maiden or springtime on the volga by Benjamin Dorman 1960. Fell on my lap early this morning.

I lost my mother-tongue. Drawing has other words. Et de plus la pagaille console.
Were you in the mood for a happy romantic Soviet comedy? Interesting taste you have.
ReplyDeleteI never saw the whole movie. did you look at the clip? It's quite an achievement, in its kind. i very much liked the colours/sweet voices versus black and white shipyard and the fact that the dancers bow to their public, and then to the sea. stark respect of the dark in the middle of kitch. Almost anything can be interesting.
ReplyDeleteI don't know where to begin. It was a miraculous clip (which I hadn't seen but now I have: my eyes were too tired to pick up the link). I suppose the motionless motion is the main attraction (roller blades?), but in my head the sweet-voiced music is still echoing, minutes after the video (I'm a big fan of folk music from around the world).
ReplyDeleteThe shipyard is sinister and Triumph des Willens in feel. And the comments to the video are interesting too. Yes, almost anything can be interesting, yet it has to be unearthed from other eras, like this one. Well found!
no, it's a way of walking, tiny fast steps with bended knees so the hips don't move at all.
