the orderly despair ( the ghosts of immigration, where are their faces and names and colors?)
Very early this morning, the police force from Morocco dispersed a file of more then
thousand sub-saharian immigrants who were walking towards the high
fences around Mellila, where they'd try to enter spanish territory.

Ajudo-a a carregar o carrinho, pesado.

Kentridge, William
"There are lots of drawings that
are about the need for comfort. I'm not sure if that's identical to
compassion—about a 'taking' rather than a ‘giving'. Maybe the
depiction of it is a giving. In the activity of making work, there's
a sense that if you spend a day or two days drawing an object or an
image there's a sympathy towards that object embodied in the human
labor of making the drawing."

heaven is not a constant
"In Kashmir, near Kargil, there was an old man who knew how to climb the tallest mountain and become lighter than air. To keep alive he ate snow and when people asked him why he ate snow, he answered, “It is not forbidden.”
Always a trail of children formed behind him.
Once the boy Adi asked: “Baba, why do you keep climbing the same mountain again and again?”
“Boy,” he answered, “I am calculating the distance to heaven.”
Time passed. The man correctly and satisfactorily calculated the distance. Yet, he never stopped trudging up the slopes of the mountain. He had grown very old and the boy had turned into a tall man.
“Baba,” Adi asked him one day with a smile, “now, why do you keep climbing? Isn’t it boring?”
“The
distance to heaven,” the old man replied with a whiff of sadness, “is
not a constant, as I thought earlier. It fluctuates. It changes, and
changes with the population of the birds.”
“This means,” the boy interpreted, “you will never be successful.”
The
old man fell on his knees, smiled, and scooped up some freshly fallen
snow from the trail. As he began eating the flakes one by one he turned
to the boy and said, “All it means is that more work is required.”
More work is required."here

As of August, 52 pyromaniacs arrested this year in Portugal. Probably just petty paid criminals. Why is it that I can understand the gesture of the man who set fire to the Kyoto Golden Pavilion but not these guys. Mishima's way with words?
I remember sitting alone in another of Kioto's wooden temples. (Alone, because japanese turists come in waves, and hurry, even at home. In between waves, as on a beach, there is a moment of quiet. ) I was sitting under the mighty sugi pillars and thinking about it. About the fire. What difference does it make to your religious feeling if the houses of the holy are made of stone, heavy, unmovable, eternal, or of wood, light, removable, fragile?

tausend Finsternisse todbringender Rede. Sie ging hindurch und gab keine
Worte her für das, was geschah; aber sie ging durch dieses Geschehen.
Ging hindurch und durfte wieder zutage treten, «angereichert» von all
dem. (Bremer Literaturpreisrede)
"There remained in the midst of the losses this one thing: language.
It, the language, remained, not lost, yes in spite of everything. But it had to pass through its own answerlessness, pass through frightful muting, pass through the thousand darknesses of deathbringing speech. It passed through and gave back no words for that which happened; yet it passed through this happening. Passed through and could come to light again, “enriched” by all this."

and this: Wolfsbohne, a poem that Celan chose to not include in die Niemandsrose. here the translator Michael Hamburger, says interesting things about it.
