Learning to draw is like slowly passing from passive to active, in a language. Passing from mere recognition to being able to reproduce, and, maybe, to move freely. With drawing, this happens in your eyes, they learn, not your hand. (In the same way language skills aren't learned by the mouth, even if you use it to talk).
